Job Description
Discover Financial Services is seeking an Application Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain complex data solutions for Finance Corporate Services. The ideal candidate will play a key role in mentoring peers, demonstrating leadership, and contributing to technical thought leadership in the team. The Application Engineer will address high-impact technology and business priorities, coach and mentor the team, and proactively identify and mitigate issues across multiple domains.
Responsibilities
- Develop solutions for critical business needs.
- Competent in programming, security, automation, testing, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrate strategic leadership integrated with the Discover ecosystem.
- Coach, mentor, and build collaborative relationships within and outside the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
- Internal applicants need a technical proficiency rating of competent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with Agile software development and management tools.
- Expertise in ETL data integration, relational databases, cloud technologies, and data warehouse architecture.
- Experience in AbInitio, SQL, Unix Scripting, and AWS services like Snowflake and S3.

Compensation
Base pay ranges from $86,500.00 to $146,100.00 with additional incentives based on factors like experience, education, and location.
