Job Description
Discover Financial Services is seeking an Application Engineer to join the team dedicated to creating the ultimate user experience on discover.com. As an Application Engineer, you will work closely with product designers and user experience experts to develop innovative solutions that enhance customer interactions within the company’s digital banking and payments ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new features with a focus on security, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Provide mentorship to Associate Application Engineers and collaborate with Senior Associates to drive team success.
- Guide design decisions and lead the team to achieve product goals.
- Address technical issues proactively and contribute to risk management and issue escalation processes.
- Engage in technology communities within Discover to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
- Internal candidates must have a technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React, and UI technologies.
- Experience with TDD, BDD, Selenium/Cucumber for test automation, and Cloud/containerization technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
