Job Description

Slumberland Furniture is currently hiring a Senior Merchandise Handler to join our team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary starting at $17 per hour, with immediate availability.

Primary Objective & Scope of Position

The Senior Merchandise Handler will be responsible for various merchandise movement tasks, including storing, moving, and distributing products. Leading by example, this role involves providing training to other team members.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities

• Conduct merchandise movement activities to ensure space efficiency.
• Manage the movement of merchandise to and from the show floor, preparing items for storage, delivery, or shipment.
• Utilize the point of sale (POS) system effectively to maintain product flow.
• Unpack, inspect, assemble, and wrap outgoing merchandise for safe delivery.
• Ensure accuracy in customer orders and system records.
• Provide training to colleagues, maintain inventory accuracy, and communicate professionally with customers and vendors.
• Practice lean methods, perform grounds and building maintenance tasks, and contribute to a safe and organized work environment.
• Adhere to safety policies, handle equipment and merchandise properly, and follow pre-established guidelines and manufacturer specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or currently working towards one).
• Basic math skills and knowledge of tools, hardware components, and product assembly.
• Valid driver's license and basic computer knowledge required. POS knowledge is desirable.
