Job Description
Discover Financial Services is looking for a passionate Principal Application Engineer (Full-Stack) to join their Collections Value Stream team. This role involves working with an Agile Team to build and maintain consumer-focused systems within the company, including the Collections experience on the Discover website and call service agent software. Responsibilities
- Creates solutions addressing high impact technology and business priorities.
- Competent in multiple contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business domains.
- Participates in strategic technology decisions and impacts Discover as a whole.
- Proactively identifies and mitigates issues based on experience.
- Coaches technology communities at Discover.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
- Internal applicants must have a technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in front-end web development with JavaScript frameworks like Angular or React.
- Proficiency in backend technologies.
- Cloud Technology knowledge including AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, and OpenShift.
- Experience with API service architecture development and implementation.
- Strong automation mindset for testing and build/deploy concepts.
- Experience with CI/CD Pipelines like Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, Ansible, and Nexus.
- Proficiency in techstack including Java, Spring, Kafka, Openshift, and Jenkins.
