Merchandise Handler - Overtime Available

Job Description

We are currently hiring for the position of Merchandise Handler with a focus on warehouse operations, including forklift operations. As part of the team at Slumberland Furniture, you will play a crucial role in merchandise movement, ensuring efficiency in storing, moving, and distributing products. This position involves providing training to fellow employees, maintaining inventory accuracy, and upholding safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage merchandise movement, optimizing space efficiency within locations.
• Prepare merchandise for display, storage, delivery, or shipment.
• Utilize the point of sale (POS) system for managing flow and ensuring order accuracy.
• Lead by example and train other employees on warehouse operations.
• Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and vendors to enhance customer service.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by addressing discrepancies and keeping management informed.
• Adhere to safety policies, operate equipment safely, and maintain a safe facility.
• Assist with grounds and building maintenance, following company guidelines and expectations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (or currently working towards completion).
• Basic math skills and knowledge of tools, hardware components, and product assembly.
• A valid driver's license and basic computer knowledge are required.
• Experience with POS systems is desirable.
