Job Description
Slumberland Furniture is looking to hire Merchandise Handlers with Forklift Operations experience for immediate placement. This full-time position offers competitive pay starting at $17 per hour. Join our team and become a key player in merchandise movement, storage, and distribution.
Primary Objective & Scope of Position:
- Perform merchandise movement tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Provide training and guidance to other team members.
Essential Functions and Accountabilities:
Merchandise Movement
- Organize merchandise within locations for optimal space utilization.
- Prepare merchandise for display, storage, delivery, or shipment.
- Utilize the point of sale (POS) system for inventory management.
- Ensure accuracy in customer orders and system records.
Training
Lead by example and offer training to fellow employees.
Customer Service
Communicate professionally with customers, colleagues, and vendors to maintain inventory accuracy. Resolve discrepancies promptly and keep management informed.
Other Responsibilities
- Implement lean practices and comply with supervisor's directives.
- Contribute to grounds and building maintenance tasks.
- Prioritize safety by following established guidelines, using equipment properly, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or current enrollment).
- Basic math skills and knowledge of tools and hardware assembly.
- Valid driver's license, basic computer skills, and POS system familiarity.
