Discover Financial Services is looking for a talented Application Engineer (Mainframe) to join our dynamic team. As an Application Engineer, you will play a crucial role in building and releasing reliable software systems at scale, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain full-stack solutions that meet our business needs. Your innovative mindset and problem-solving skills will be essential in guiding the team through the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to product team deliverables using Java programming technology.
• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency in the product delivery cycle.
• Solve complex technical problems and explore innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with business partners to understand requirements and deliver high-quality features to production.
• Provide oversight on design decisions and guide the team towards achieving key results.
• Remediate issues using engineering principles and contribute to technology communities at Discover.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
• Internal applicants must have a technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong automation mindset with testing and build/deploy concepts.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, and Ansible.
• Technical skills in COBOL, JCL, CICS, Z/OS, and Unix.

Compensation: Base salary ranges from $86,500.00 to $146,100.00, with additional incentives.
