Application Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an Application Engineer to join Discover Financial Services, a leader in digital banking and payments. As a Full Stack Engineer in the Digital Payments team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain full stack solutions that meet business needs. You will play a key role in designing elegant solutions, advocating for best practices, and guiding the team from inception to production.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new features with high quality.
• Mentor Associate Application Engineers and provide learning tasks.
• Lead technology communities and contribute to design decisions.
• Remediate issues and create proactive design solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
• Technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale for internal applicants.

Bonus Points

• Experience in legacy modernization projects.
• Strong Java and cloud technology expertise.
• Designing and owning Kafka clusters for event-driven architecture.
• Supporting pipeline capabilities for deploying applications and infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
• Interest in learning new technologies and implementing automation.

Compensation: Base pay ranges from $86,500.00 to $146,100.00 plus incentives.
