Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Early Head Start Teacher to join our team at HumanKind, a non-profit organization committed to providing essential services to children and families for over a century. As an Early Head Start Teacher, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality early education and child development services that foster children's cognitive, social, and emotional growth, setting them up for success in school and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Provide responsive care and effective teaching methods to promote healthy development aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Create an engaging and nurturing classroom environment that supports children's emotional security and cognitive growth.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities using research-based curriculum to enhance each child's learning and development.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that children with disabilities receive inclusive and appropriate services.
  • Engage families through home visits, communication, and educational conferences to support their involvement in their child's education.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of early childhood care, education, and infant/toddler development.
  • Ability to adhere to Virginia licensing standards, Head Start Program Performance Standards, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Flexibility, time management, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical capabilities to handle the demands of child care and conduct home visits.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma for Contingent Teacher with a commitment to obtain a CDA degree within 2 years.
  • CDA or relevant credential with a focus on infant and toddler development for Teacher position.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred for Teacher role.
  • Required clearances and health documentation.
  • Educational or professional references.
