Job Description

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) in Topeka, KS, is seeking an Experienced Construction Inspector to inspect and report on various construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and contract specifications. The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving problems through a collaborative process and will have the ability to build professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and report on various construction projects to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
  • Review, interpret, and perform checks on all types of construction drawings, including infrastructure, transportation, subdivision, and site plans.
  • Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, respond to questions, and resolve problems; make recommendations for changes as necessary.
  • Complete and maintain daily/weekly inspection reports, track/logs contractor pay item quantities, review contractor pay estimates, and conduct final inspections.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments and organizations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Five or more years of construction inspection experience preferred.
  • KDOT Inspection Experience and KDOT CITT and American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certifications are preferred.
  • Considerable skill in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents; ability to prepare, organize, and maintain inspection field and office data, reports, and systems.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate complex technical information, orally and in writing, in a professional manner to various stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work 50+ hours per week and weekends when necessary are required.
