Senior Associate Application Engineer (SRE)

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Associate Application Engineer (SRE) to join Discover Financial Services. As a Senior Associate Site Reliability Engineer, you will contribute to the availability and performance of critical applications like the Card and Bank websites and mobile app. You will collaborate with application development teams and other SREs to enhance observability, implement monitoring, automate operations, and ensure operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Partner with application development teams and other SREs to build end-to-end observability.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.
• Automate operational processes and participate in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related.
• Internal applicants require technical proficiency rated as advanced beginner on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience as an SRE.
• Knowledge of hybrid infrastructure, preferably with AWS.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, and Java.
• Experience in container technology and automation tools like Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
• Expertise in observability tools such as DataDog, synthetic monitoring, log aggregation, and dashboarding tools like Grafana and Kibana.
