LPN - Specialty Acute Care

Job Description

Main Hospital 5W (MH5W) is a 16-bed acute care unit with a unique clinical focus on providing care for liver failure patients, including transplant recipients, in the pre and post-operative settings, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, acute kidney injury, and sickle cell. The unit also utilizes the new drug Terlipressin in the treatment of liver patients with decreased kidney function. The patient population includes a variety of medical-surgical patients. Nurses and patient care technicians work collaboratively alongside Hepatologists and medical teams to provide high-quality, evidenced-based care. MH5W offers ongoing transplant-specific education and encourages specialty certification in palliative care, wound care, and med/surg. This position involves delivering safe and effective care and interacting with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results and outcomes. It requires the use of LPN's skills in multiple physical locations under MUSC Health.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Manager and provide individualized, goal-directed, and family-centered patient care.
• Demonstrate proficiency according to the laws governing nursing in South Carolina.
• Deliver safe and effective care and interact with other members of the health care team.

Requirements

• Completion of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Minimum six months experience as LPN.
• Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
